This is the website of Helen Ouimet and Serge Ouimet, artisans based in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
We have been making and selling handcrafted jewellery and small art objects since 1991. We started working with polymer clay (Fimo, Premo, etc.), teaching ourselves techniques such as “Millefiori” (cane-working), which is related to Italian glass-working such as Murano glass, and “Mokume Gane”, which is drawn from a Japanese metal-working technique. Eventually we incorporated other elements; mixed- media, silver, semi-precious stones and Swarovski crystal.
We have been involved with numerous events over the years: Craft fairs such as Art etc in Montreal West, Arts + at Villa-Maria School in N.D.G. Festivals like Les Francofolies de Montreal, the Tulip Festival in Ottawa. We sell for a day or two at a time at institutions like universities and hospitals in and around Montreal, Ottawa and Trois-Rivieres. Also, we have the Artisan permit from the City of Montreal and regularly present our products in downtown Montreal. For the past decade our chosen space for this has been on Phillips Square on St.-Catherine St. across from the Bay.
When not working, we love to travel abroad: India, Mexico, Tunisia, the Caribbean, Vietnam, Bali, Malaysia, and USA. We also constantly meet people from all over the world. All this exposure to foreign cultures stimulates our creativity and gives us a sense of place in a very large world.
Check our calendar to see where we will be selling at any given time. If you know our products and wish to order anything from us, please contact us by e-mail for further info and instructions. Eventually, we hope to be able to sell directly through this website.
